After a great finals with the Nordic CleanTech Open we took third place. The official video of the even can be found here. We also participated in the CleanTech Venture Day in Lahti.
Top 25 in the Nordic CleanTech Open
Black Silicon Solar was in the group of the best 25 startup companies in the nordics in the Nordic CleanTech Open. This lead to an amazing event at Trolleholm Castle in February 2012.
Top 50 Student Entrepreneurs in the world
Prestigious organization Kairos Society selected the team as one of the 50 best University startup entreprenurial teams. Huffington post covered the event where we showcased our company at the NYSE.
Finalist in Global CleanTech Open
Black Silicon Solar was selected in the finalist group of as one of the six best ideas out of the 25 countries participating. A video of the experience can be found here.
Best Danish CleanTech Startup 2011
In very fierce competition Black Silicon Solar won first place in DM in Cleantech hosted by Venture Cup and Danish construction and enterprise authority. First prize included a package to participate in the global finals in cleantech in San Jose run by the CleanTech Open.
European Cleantech Challenge Finalists - Selected for the roadshow
The European Cleantech Challenge is an initiative run by Intesa Sanpaolo that aims so bring cleantech start-ups and angel investors together. Only the very best are selected. Over 120 companies were screened in the initial process, and of these 30 were selected to participate in week of training with Maverick Angels in order to improve their pitch and learn about how investors will evaluate their proposal. Out of these 30 companies, twelve were selected as the most promising candidates. These twelve companies were subsequently invited to the Start-up roadshow, with the first event being in Milan on October fourth.
Black Silicon Solar was one of the twelve selected companies in the European Cleantech Challenge. Invitation to a series of investor meetings as well as software from Autodesk was received.

Venture Cup National Winner
Venture Cup is the national championship in entrepreneurship and start-up ventures, and the biggest of its kind with several hundred competing entrepreneurs, a total prize sum of 600.000 DKK and an impressive gathering of sponsors and jury members
representing the seven big universities in Denmark and companies like Novo, Grundfos, Vestas, Ernst & Young and more. 15 finalist teams were selected and competed in five different categories.

CleanTech Challenge Winner
The CleanTech Challenge is an international competition hosted by University College London and London Business School. With over 50 participating teams, which included some of the hottest European CleanTech startups, 10 were selected for the finals. The finalist were given expert coaching and feedback from representatives of Camco, Clean World Capital, ETF, BQu and Virgin Green Fund. Each submission was evaluated on technology, businessplan and the final pitch. The judges were of industry experts from Shell, Gimv and Centrica.
Black Silicon Solar won the first prize of £5000 and got invaluable feedback and advice on how to move forward.

DTU Green Challenge "Best Master" Winner
Grøn Dyst (Green Challenge) is an initiative from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where DTU-students every other
year compete against each other with their engineering solutions and ideas within the field of green technology. In the 2010 competition held at DTU on the 25th of June more than 200 DTU-students competed with more than 100 ideas, and the best were finally selected and awarded.
Black Silicon Solar was awarded a prize for 'Best Project on Master Level' and was given a prize of 2000 DKK by the Danish National Secretary of Climate and Energy, Lykke Friis.
